Smash Domain Ladders
« on: April 13, 2012, 06:38:32 PM »

First thing to get out of the way ... we know this isn't anything new to some of you from other Brawl sites.  It's a feature we've always wanted but was never available to us.  Several attempts had been mentioned for SMF users, about 10-12 different attempts I've seen in the last 3 years or so, but everyone of them ended up with the same fate ... abandoned after getting so far and hyping many of us gaming site owners, then left with disappointment waiting for the next MOD developer to come along and repeat the process.

Finally, we are proud to present a Legit Ladder system for Smash Domain, based off the ELO Ranking System.  Complete with Ladder Rankings page, Ladder Reports for members to submit results, and each player has their own Stats page, listing match stats of all their matches along with the details of each match.

Before I continue, I have to give major props to a good friend of mine from SMf Support, Labradoodle-360 , who came along and took charge on getting this system in place.  Along with the guidance of MBmoney on how Ladders actually worked, and suggestions from everyone a part of the relaunch team; we were all able to work together and design a system that works for us.

Ladder Match Rules, and FAQ topics are available in the Ladders board, which should be unlocked to the public by time you read this.  Please take the time to read them, and familiarize yourself with the operations of how the Ladders system works.

And, sorry to inform, but seeing how TEAMS is very hard to get going properly in the competitive scene, we felt it wasn't necessary at this point.  The Ladders are for singles matches only, at this time.

Ladder Ranking Page

Player Stats Page
This page was actually my work.  I wanted some sort of stats page for members to have a history of their Ladder matches, and this is how it turned out. :)

The top of the page will have some stats of the player's stats page you are viewing, including total matches played, won, lost, contact info, and Rep received, along with Rep percentages.
The bottom portion of the page, lists the match results for your most recent played matches in descending order.  It will display the win/loss status of the owner, set score, opponent, and match detail game results.  The owner's characters are listed first, then stage, then the opponent's characters.  Green/Red highlights determine who won which game.   Followed by Reputation received for the match ( which a comment can be read by hovering the Rep number is the opposing players leaves a comment), and lastly, the date & time of the match result.

Also included, is a Match array viewer, where you can select to list only the players matches Won, or matches Lost, and a view all by default.

Ladder Result Report Page

the Ladder result submit page went through many, many changes.  Again, this one is from myself.  But we think this final draft is going to be th emost self-explanatory.  Though, I've used color labels to help show the page off and how it works.

(1)  Match Outcome: simply select the final outcome of the match, whether you won, or you lost.
(2) Game details.  when submitting, your characters are all in the green column, and your opponent's characters go in the red column, while putting the data for each Game Row.   If a game did not go to game 3, then leave Game 3's row selectings all at default and make sure "3rd Game not Played" is selected.
(3) Reputation and Comment:  Select positive or neutral to add to the players ladder Rep.  Negative was removed for obvious reasons.  Also add a feedback comment for your opponent if you wish to do so.

So, this is it!  Our Anniversary gift to you.  A 24/7 Competitive Brawling scene for the site that any member can enjoy.  Just, please don't rush and jump in.  Please take the time to read through the sticky topics in the 'Brawl Ladders' section of the forum.   We hope you enjoy this latest edition as much as we have preparing it for the site.

And, unfortunately, :( , we're bringing back the Brawl Chat ( meaning Brawls Only allowed ) to help with Ladder matches, along with a new /ladders tag available in the chat.

Be sure to report your matches here.
A lot of people are reporting matches incorrectly. It will help us out greatly if you reported your matches there. Also be sure to double check you filled out everything on the report correctly
